While most people used WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms to wish friends and family a Merry Christmas, what should you do with your clients and colleagues? A holiday message, apart from expressing warm wishes, can be used to strengthen your image and build loyalty, but you must be careful with what you write.
Cold, impersonal messages or not being aware of cultural and religious differences will hurt your image and could turn away clients or alienate coworkers. In a globalized world, your company or business is probably in contact with people from different countries and cultures, which may not celebrate the same holidays as you. Here are some useful tips:
- Keep the general message generic – not everybody celebrates Christmas. Use something broad, like “Season’s Greetings”, “Happy Holidays”, or “Warmest wishes for the season”.
- Avoid religious images – some of your clients may celebrate other winter holidays than Christmas, like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Pancha Ganapati. Choose designs and images that celebrate winter, holidays, and spending time with loved ones.
- Let clients and customers know that their business is important to you, and that you appreciate their loyalty.
Keep your message short – it’s a card, not a letter. Here are some examples of corporate messages:
- Season’s greetings from your friends at (company name).
- May the holiday spirit be with you and your family today and throughout the New Year.
- Sending you the warmest greetings and warmest wishes this holiday season.
- We are very grateful to have clients like you in our lives. Happy holidays from all of us at (company name).
- We wish you a very happy holiday season and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
- Our success is thanks to all our loyal customers and dedicated team members. We are grateful for you and wish you a holiday season filled with warmth.
